The Club is in need of Licensed Officials and we are on the look-out for volunteers to take the next step to becoming a key part of the Club.
Over the last season or so, the number of Licensed Officials has reduced.
Explained Coach Ian Wells: “When we enter swimmers into an Open Meet, it is a requirement of our entry that we send along some Licensed Officials. We’re seeing less Licensed Officials with current swimmers. One of our recently attended Open Meets was in Cambridge, who requested that for every five swimmers entered we provide one Licensed Official. We had 28 children entered and luckily Cambridge accepted part-qualified officials. I’d like to appeal to all of you to consider doing some timekeeping first before moving to covering a session or 2 over our Open Meet weekends .. AND that you PLEASE CONSIDER becoming Licensed.”
Becoming a Licensed Official does not necessarily mean that you will be asked to officiate every time we attend an Open Meet. If we do not have Officials to volunteer, then we WILL NOT be able to attend Open Meets. Licensed Open Meets are where the children can gain those important County and Regional Qualifying Times so could stop our swimmers reaching their full potential.
Please see Committee Members Sheli Scott or Paul Hart to enquire about timekeeping at our forthcoming Club Championships and even completing a course for Licensing. All help gratefully received.
Please remember without your help our swimmers may be turned away from competitions.
